Minutes:
The meeting discussed the project that Batch '79 will donate to the
school: the construction of the entrance and exit school gates:
1. Shelley suggested that we wait for Pat Yap to attend our meeting before making
the decision with regards the construction. Pat represents the U.S. batch mates.
2. Mary Ann suggested that we award the construction directly to Marfori, that we
no longer open the project to bidders. However, Wilma will also submit a bid therefore we must consider this. It was also
suggested that if we award it to a different bidder, it would be improper to use Marfori's design.
3. The meeting agreed to include the construction of the guardhouse as part of the
project. The total cost will be P210thousand (P180T gates plus P30T guardhouse)
4. Shelley said that co-sponsorship for the premier film showing of "Tomb Raider
2" need not have cost so much. Maybe next time it could be one-fourth the cost.
5. Suzette announced the cost for this year's November homecoming: P100 for food,
P100 for Association dues. Suzette will check on what our batch's role will be for this homecoming event. Suzette still has
to coordinate our role with this year's host and the Alumni Foundation.
6. Alma made the suggestion of creating committees, therefore, the following selected
their own committees:
·
Shelley Ann - Solicitation and Finance / Safety and Security
·
Alma - Program / Documentation / Advertising
·
Tessa - Program / Documentation / Advertising
·
Mary Ann - Solicitation and Finance
·
Wilma - Solicitation and Finance / Physical Arrangement
·
Eliza - Solicitation and Finance
·
Victoria - Physical Arrangement
·
Aldalyn - Physical Arrangement
·
Suzette - Food and Beverage
·
Pinky - Food and Beverage
7. Suzette passed the resolution prepared by Monique for some member's signatures
for the creation of a bank account in the name of SBS batch '79.
8. Some ideas were raised for fund raising activities:
·
Mary Ann was designated to take charge of the "ukay-ukay"
for this year's November homecoming. We can start in the morning, because the event will be in the afternoon. We can start
bringing clothes as early as October. Shelley volunteered their tagging machine to indicate the price on each item. Suzette
will have to coordinate this with Monica of Batch '78. However, Eliza remarked that the alumni is not our target market for
the ukay-ukay, so it might be a swap meet. We might end up buying each other's stuff. Everyone was encouraged to bring good
stuff.
·
For another "ukay-ukay" activity, Suzette suggested a spot/place
in Murphy that cost P150 per day.
·
Shelley suggested we solicit booths for the homecoming like
a fair. Nutritional companies, Avon or food products can exhibit or sell their products. This will have to be coordinated
with the host batch.
9. The meeting decided that the theme for next year's homecoming
is "Staying Alive After 25 Years."
10. The next meeting has been scheduled for July 26, Saturday.
