Minutes
  1. The SBS Alumni Homecoming Batch 1979 held a meeting last 26 April, Saturday at the residence of Pinky Mabanta-Gozales in Pasig with the following in attendance: Pinky (of course), Suzette David, Alma Alvarez-Francisco, Ma. Victoria Edora, Eliza Rabino, Mary Ann Maniquis and Tessa Belleza.
  2. The meeting discussed the project Batch 79 will donate to the school: construction of the entrance and exit school gates. The total cost of the project is P180,000 (at P90,000 per gate) without the guard house. The estimated cost of the guard house is P30,000. Pinky has been asked to upload the design, scheme and costing in the internet for discussion and comment of the other batchmates.
  3. Suzette gave an update of the following priority projects:
    1. Of the five (5) computers for the library, three will be provided by Batch 81.
    2. For the laboratory equipment, the following list was given:

·         centigram balance (10)

·         compound microscope (10)

·         funnels of different sizes

·         beakers of different sizes

    1. The waterproofing of the auditorium will be taken on by the Alumni Foundation at the cost of P375,000.
    2. Repainting of the external walls of the auditorium (will be taken on by the school and Batch 75)
    3. The repainting of the high school building is finished. Suzette had a chance to inspect the building the previous week. All classrooms have been painted in pastel colors.
    4. The school and Batch 75 will take care of the repair of the comfort rooms in the auditorium.
    5. The school will take care of the re-landscaping of the quadrangle and the flagpole area.
    6. Batch 75 will take care of the repair of comfort rooms in the grade school and high school buildings.
    7. P.E. mats for gymnastics and taekwondo and piano have been donated.

Suzette reported that the school has greatly improved due to the alumni contributions and recent improvements in the grounds.

  1. Given that we have to raise the amount for the batch contribution and all other homecoming events, the group planned for the following fund-raising activities:
    1. Mary Ann will take charge of the garage sales. She will coordinate with three parish sites where we can hold garage sales. The meeting decided that there should be minimal outlay for this activity. The target date of the garage sale is May 17.
    2. Suzette presented the solicitation letter from the Alumni Foundation. Monique Quisumbing-Ignacio and Suzette David will sign the letters. Mary Ann volunteered to solicit from her clients: Globe Telecom, Siemens and Ericsson.
    3. Total collection for the day was P4500 from the batch monthly contributions. Suzette will post the amounts contributed by each individual.
    4. Suzette suggested that we could raise funds through sale of the CD manufactured by Grace Marfori (re-recorded from the original) The CDs cost P500, P250 goes to Marfori, P250 can go to our funds. Each CD has 21 songs, mostly music from our era. The cover will have pictures of our batch.
  2. It was suggested that we have T-shirts printed for the homecoming event. We are appealing to those in the U.S. to decide on a definite date in July 2004 for the Batch Homecoming. The sooner we decide this date, the better we can plan for the event.
  3. The next meeting has been scheduled for May 31, Saturday.
